Krampus – A Christmas Escape Adventure Opening Soon!

Your bills at Christmas aren’t what you’ll be scared of most this year…

Are you on the naughty or nice list?

KRAMPUS haunted escape room offers thrills for those seeking a “Scary” Christmas

Edmonton, Alberta … CanScare, a homegrown Edmonton company, is proud to present a limited engagement run of their unique Christmas experience KRAMPUS.

A hybrid of theatrical storytelling, escape room puzzles and funhouse scares, this is a one-of-a-kind one-hour experience filled with surprises and laughter from a company that embodies the motto “Everyday is Halloween.”

Loosely based on the northern European folklore of Krampus — a horned, anthropomorphic figure described as “half-goat, half-demon”, who, during the Christmas season, punishes children who have misbehaved, in contrast with Saint Nicholas who rewards the well-behaved with gifts — being summoned to North America to judge the children who grew up without his malevolent presence!

Guests are put to the test as Krampus group of followers give them the opportunity to truly find out if they are naughty or nice. Every single decision makes a difference in this fully interactive experience.  Guests are guided by a “helf” on the shelf as they are put through a series of tests, each one containing two possible solutions: an easier, “naughty” solution that works against them; or a more challenging “nice” solution that gains points.  In the end, the naughtiest member of the team will be separated and summoned to join Krampus in hell!

The Krampus experience is designed and written by Edmonton artist and scare expert Brendan James Boyd and features twisted artwork by Alana Banks, Gennieve Edwards and Kevin Kuzyk. It is performed daily by Brendan Boyd and Philip Hackborn alternating in the role of the “helf” with twisted Christmas carols arranged by composer Michael Gordon.

Krampus runs November 16 to 24 and December 4 to 20 at the ATB Financial Arts Barn 10330 84 Ave. The show runs in 60 minute intervals and ticket bookings must be made in advance.

Tickets are $24.90 and can be purchased online at www.canscare.com
