Eekfest is Back! October 13th at St. Albert Place!

It’s Officially OFFICIAL!! The press kit is out and Eekfest is back October 13th in St. Albert! They’re definitely focussing on the family aspect they’ve always been known for but I’m guessing the Zombie Ukrainian Dancers (complete with flying body parts!!) is probably not for the younger kids…

This time they’ve also got a video game zone, a haunted house escape room and so much more! Read the press release below or go to for all the details.

St. Albert, AB – St. Albert’s very own pop-culture festival – EEKFEST – is back again after a 1-year hiatus, this time in a fabulous new venue, St. Albert Place for one day only – Saturday, October 13th.

This year’s Eekfest features a great variety of pop-culture and Halloween-themed attractions, amusements and fun-filled activities for fanboys and fangirls of all ages, including a haunted house escape room, video games zone, an interactive Lego display by the Northern Alberta Lego Users Group (NALUG), a display by the Hearse Club of Edmonton, and an appearance by Edmonton’s 501st Badlands (Storm Troopers and more!) – as well as artists, vendors, board games, food trucks and live entertainment.

Attendees will also be amazed and horrified by the “Incredible Headless Lady” exhibit, and there will also be a seminar by special guest writer Patrick Weekes from Bioware, who has written for two of the world’s biggest video game franchises – Mass Effect and the Dragon Age.

The highlight of the festival will be in the Arden Theatre, where two performances of Frank’n’Wolf Follies – The Halloween Vaudeville Show will take place on-stage. Hosted by Edmonton comedy legends Tom Edwards (as Frankenstein’s monster) and Dana Andersen (as Wolfman) – this not-to-be-missed family-friendly 90-minute entertainment extravaganza features a zany and fun-filled lineup of music, comedy, dance, magic, a few scares, and – in an Eekfest exclusive – the Yednist Dance Company performing as Ukrainian zombie dancers, complete with flying body parts. Showtimes are 3:30 and 6:00pm, with the possibility of a third performance being added at 8:30pm (subject to ticket sales). Tickets are limited and only $19.95 for adults and $7.95 for 12 and under. A limited Family special package will be available for the afternoon show for $44.95 which includes two adults and up to three kids 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased online through or during the day of the event if available. Processing fees and taxes extra.

“We’re excited to have Eekfest closer to Halloween, with the whole comic-book-superhero-cosplay universe has crossed over so much with Halloween in terms of costumes and characters and the whole get dressed-up factor, it’s a perfect fit,” says festival producer Rob LeLacheur. “So, it’s a pop-culture festival with the big focus on the live show and a little extra dose of that Halloween scary monster factor that makes it that much more fun as a theme for an event.”

Admission to many of the components of this family-friendly event are free and patrons are encouraged to come dressed up as their favourite pop-culture, sci-fi or Halloween characters, and there will be a contest and prizes awarded for the best costumes.
