We’ll never be able to mention everything going on at the Expo but we’ve been meaning to talk about Gamealot for a while now and guess where they’ll be this weekend? If you’re not familiar with them, they’re a gaming event put on every year in support of a charity. This year it’s the St. Albert Family Resource Centre.
You can get a taste of what they’re all about at the Expo by stopping by booth 1404&1504 in Hall H by the tabletop gaming area! Gamealot will also be bringing a games library for people to use on the tables that they’ll have in the tabletop gaming area. Here’s the Gamealot schedule for the weekend:
Friday, Saturday 5-6pm & Sunday @ 3-4pm: Learn to Play Boss Monster – Each caps at 8 people “Inspired by a love of classic video games, Boss Monster: The Dungeon Building Card Game pits 2-4 players in a competition to build the ultimate side-scrolling dungeon. Players compete to lure and destroy hapless adventurers, racing to outbid one another to see who can build the most enticing, treasure-filled dungeon.” Each participants receives a promo card and paper playmat! The wondrous paper stock pixel crown will be given away randomly to one of the participants.
Saturday 11am – noon: Learn to Play King of New York – Caps at 8 people “Will you grab the spotlight, and become a celebrity Superstar? Or will you become the defender of the city, and befriend Lady Liberty? Each of New York’s boroughs has its own charms, but to truly rule the Big Apple, you have to control Manhattan. Defeat the other monsters and rule the city…. Become the King of New York!” Each participant will receive complementary promo cards!
Sunday 11am – noon: Learn to Play Machi Koro – Caps at 8 people “You’ve just been elected Mayor. Congratulations! Unfortunately, the citizens have some pretty big demands: jobs, a theme park, a couple of cheese factories, and maybe even a radio tower. A tough proposition since the city currently consists of a wheat field, a bakery, and a single die. Armed only with your trusty die and a dream, you must grow Machi Koro into the largest city in the region. You will need to collect income from developments, build public works, and steal from your neighbors’ coffers. Just make sure they aren’t doing the same to you!” One Machi Koro Harbour expansion will be randomly given away; the remaining 7 participants each receive a shiny foil promo landmark card!
