Things are getting Stranger in Edmonton…

Edmonton Expo adds stars Natalia Dyer & Shannon Purser (Stranger Things), Stephen Amell (Arrow), and more to 2016 event

Expo to celebrate 5th Anniversary September 23-25; one of the fastest growing pop culture events of its kind in North America

Edmonton, AB (August 24, 2016) – Edmonton’s geekiest weekend is growing more stacked with star power, after organizers revealed more Media Guests & Creator Guests. Natalia Dyer & Shannon Purser, will make premiere appearances in Alberta following the explosive popularity of their roles as “Nancy Wheeler” and “Barb Holland” in Netflix’s Stranger Things (Saturday & Sunday only).

Superhero aficionados will be glad to hear Canadian actor Stephen Amell (star of Arrow, TMNT: Out of the Shadows, The Flash) will return to Edmonton. And for a dose of childhood adventure nostalgia, Karan Ashley and Austin St. John, both from the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers TV series will also appear.

Organizers also announced four creator guests will be appearing at Edmonton Expo 2016, including Ian Boothby, a multiple Shuster, Harvey and Eisner Award nominee and Eisner Award winning comic book author best known for his work as lead writer on The Simpsons and Futurama. Additional credits include: The Flash, Scooby Doo and Powerpuff Girls comics as well as CBC Radio’s The Irrelevant Show. Also announced: Vancouver-based comic book artist Pia Guerra (The Last Man, Black Canary, Adventures of Superman, Doctor Who, Torchwood); Vic Malhotra (The Killer Inside Me, Riche Limit); and Joe Shuster and Eisner Award winner Gerhard, best known for Cereus – the longest running creator-owned comic book series, at 300 issues.

The fifth annual Edmonton Comic & Entertainment, a three-day festival of all things pop culture, will once again welcome tens of thousands of fans to Northlands this September (September 23-25, 2016). Attendees can check out hundreds of vendors showcasing everything from costumes to collectables, meet and hear from their favourite artists and actors, and witness incredible fan-made cosplay roaming the halls and at the Costume Contest. Last year, Edmonton Expo attracted more than 50,000 attendees, making it one of the fastest growing events of its kind in North America. By comparison, its sister show (Calgary Expo) attracted less than half of those numbers in its fifth year.

TICKET NEWS

Single-Day Tickets and Weekend Passes for Edmonton Expo are now on sale. Advance Single-Day Tickets range from $20-$30 for adults or $70 for a three-day Weekend Pass. There are also discounted rates for Youth (aged 8-12) and children aged seven and under can attend for free when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. For the best value, a limited number of Deluxe Weekend Passes are also available, which include early entry, Expo merchandise, and more.

Top-level tickets (Celeb Fast Passes) are available in very limited quantities and are expected to sell out. Celeb Fast Passes go for $250 and allow for 1-hour early entry each day, priority access to guests and photo ops to limit time spent in lines, and over $100 in Expo swag. Tickets will be available via ticketmaster.
