“Video games are immensely captivating. One moment we’re fighting aliens on strange new worlds, the next we’re catching Pokémon in Kanto and wondering where the last three hours have gone. They engage us and challenge us. But there’s so much more to video gaming than playing games. They have a significant influence on our society. Today, more money is spent on video games than any other entertainment medium – more than movies and music.
This fall, EPL, in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Arts, is offering a virtual university course for adults and high school students alike, who are interested in learning more about video games and their impact. This free 10-part online self-study program offers students an authentic university experience.
Want to learn more? Join University of Alberta’s Dr. Sean Gouglas for an entertaining, interactive evening as we kick off this program and he explains the importance of video gaming and answers the question: why you SHOULD play video games!
WHEN: Thursday, August 25 7:00 – 8:30 pm
WHERE: Stanley A. Milner Library
COST: This is a free event. Registration is now open!
The 10-part online course will be available starting on Friday, August 26
