This is the one that started everything. A complete list of all stand-alone, brick & mortar stores devoted to Comics, Collectibles and/or Gaming in Edmonton.
A physical location builds a physical community of people with like-minded interests. It’s a place you can go to talk about your passion. You meet, you connect & you play there.
Each one has a unique feel when you walk in for the first time and they all show you something you’ve never seen. Sometimes it’s obvious and physical (MacBeth Comics has a stage, Avalon Knights has a Drive-Thru window) and sometimes its the sheer amount of work put in behind the scenes or online (Variant Edition has podcasts, a blog, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tumbler and more. I’m not sure if Brandon Schatz sleeps….).
Some have been around forever (Warp, Happy Harbor, Comic Fever) and some have yet to open. Taps For Effect, I’ll see you on November 19th.

If you’ve made it this far, then you won’t mind if I talk a bit about the criteria I used for this list:
- -Each store is it’s own physical entity (Super Flea Market vendors, I haven’t forgotten you).
- -Each store should theoretically be accessible by transit from Edmonton (Mission:Fun & Games & Thunderground are in St. Albert, Wizard’s & We Have Issues are in Sherwood Park).
- Each store should have a physical product for sale that includes (but is not limited to): Comics, Collectible Card Games, Board Games, Table-top War Games, Role-Playing Games, Anime, Manga, LARP supplies or Collectible Toys.
- I’m not including National/International chains (The exception being Games Workshop). Chapters/Indigo/Coles (for example) probably doesn’t need any help…
- I’m leaving Gamer’s Alley on here so people will know it’s physical location is closed.
